ST PATRICK'S WEEKEND 2012

We would like to thank everybody who came out to support the Club in the St Patrick's Day parade in Baltinglass. A group of members went on a run in the Glen of Imaal afterwards and it was a moist enjoyable day with good weather for the parade and run. The prize for best decorated car went to Tom and Jean Brady for their beautifully presented Morris Minor. Despite a few mechanical gremlins all cars made it home under their own steam in the end and the minor technical issues were sorted out.

Photos of this fantastic day are now available!

Hollywood Hills Tractor and Classic Run 2011 raises €3607!

Despite a rainy day, last year's Hollywood Hills Classic and Tractor Run was a storming day out. Nearly 90 vehicles took part on the run, including a wide variety of classics, motorcycles, tractors, and even a vintage bicycle! Participants and visitors enjoyed a fantastic day out, with great food and great entertainment, including Win a Goldfish, Wheel of Fortune, bouncy castle, and more.

In addition to all the fun and excitement, a grand total of €3607 euro was raised for the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dún Laoghaire, which is fantastic contribution to this hugely worthwhile cause, and made the event an all round great success!

Our sincerest thanks go to Tom Duffy Jr, Mrs Sheila Duffy, and their family, who provided the field for the event and who also helped in many, many other ways both in the preparation as well as during the event. We would also like to thank all the many club members, supporters and friends who contributed and helped in making this event the fantastic success it was.

Photos of this terrific event can now be seen on our photos page.

CLUB NEWS

2012 Annual General Meeting Report

Thank you to everybody who turned up for our AGM on Tuesday 10th April. We would like to welcome the new members to the club. The AGM was quite successful and the formalities were quickly dealt with before moving on to our ordinary meeting.

There was a good attendance and the Club officers elected for the coming year were:
Chairman: Ned Kinsella.
Secretary: Cíara Kinsella.
Treasurer: Charles Jones.
P. R. O. Jim Nolan.

While reviewing the financial position of the club a decision was taken to investigate the possibility of moving our account to the Credit Union as the Bank Charges applied to our account were considered unacceptable as we are a not for profit organisation. The vast majority of funds moving through our account consisted of charitable donations raised through our annual charity events.

The Hollywood Hills Run is our next activity and plans are well under way for this. All members present were given sponsorship cards and cards are still available for those who could not attend. We will equire as many people as possible to help in the field on the Fri and Sat 27th and 28th as well as on the day Sun April 29th.

Club Jackets

Club Jackets are being made available to order and we have two samples for anybody to try on to get an idea of sizes. The jacket is just €25 which includes club crest embroidered on the front as well as the owners in initials and westwicklowclassics.com on the back.

The first batch of jackets have been ordered today but anybody requiring one should contact Ned Kinsella on 087 6863602 or email wwcvvc@baltinglasstown.com for details.

Membership fees now due

Members are reminded that your membership fee is now due. This is being retained at just €25 for the current year and just about covers insurance and the running costs of the club.

UPCOMING EVENTS

NEXT CLUB MEETING:

Sunday April 22nd at 5PM, in Germaine's Inisfáil, Baltinglass
This will be a short meeting to finalise plans for the Hollywood Hills Run, and any other business arising. If the weather is good we will have a short run out as well so bring along your classic. More info later.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS TRACTOR AND CLASSIC RUN:

April 29th, 2012
This is the first of our two major charity events of the year. Following the success of this event last year it has been decided to make it an annual event with the proceeds going to The National Rehabilitation Hospital. We plan to make this bigger and better than last year with the support of classic and vintage lovers of all persuasions. The tractors will be run on a shorter route than cars etc to avoid holdups.

This run takes in some spectacular scenery around the mountains and lakes of West Wicklow, and is well worth a visit for that alone. There will of course be fun and games in the field all day and refreshments for all.

POSTER FOR THIS EVENT NOW AVAILABLE!
You can download a poster for this run by clicking here. Please print off as many copies as you like for distribution and display!

CLASSIC CAR LIVE AT MONDELLO:

June 17th, 2012
We will have a run to this event from Baltinglass, while members from other areas can meet up with us at near the motorway exit and all will then travel to Mondello Park. A club stand will be booked so members can exhibit their vehicles and take part in the activities of the day.

TERENURE SHOW:

July 8th, 2012
This year we hope to have a Club stand at Terenure Show, as this show was very popular with members last year with many in attendance although we did not have a club stand.

BALTINGLASS CLASSIC CAR & MOTORCYCLE RUN:

August 12th, 2012
This will be our third annual running of this very popular event and we plan to follow a similar format to previous years. The run will include a visit to a show as well as fun and games for passengers and children with prizes to be won on the day. The run will as usual end with a dinner and prize giving for all participants. All proceeds from this run will go to a very deserving charity.

SEPTEMBER EVENT:

Date TBA, but sometime in September 2012
We will hold a run to Castledermot Vintage day or a similar event in September as this has proved to be a popular activity in previous years.

OTHER EVENTS:

Dates TBA
In addition to the above we will also have a number of club events during the year, including club runs, meetings, a treasure hunt and a few other fun events.
